As far as my research shows, there are more than 250 million blogs on the internet today. The sheer number of people imparting their thoughts and views is baffling, to say the least. The world is now one blog richer, as I become part of the great blog phenomenon. For me, this blog is one of many interesting and informative projects involved in my quest for a BC Provincial Instructor's Diploma with the Vancouver Community College School of Instructor Education.
It has become clear to me over the past several years that I am a lifelong learner and educator. I not only instruct adults, but I am an adult learner myself. Already, I find myself implementing aspects of my lessons into my classroom. Gone are the days that I just stand in front of the room and lecture; gone are the days of assigning mountains of homework in an attempt to drill the material into the brain; gone are the days of final exams and stressful studying! Okay, well maybe not...or at least not yet. I haven't managed to shake the traditional roles of teacher and student, but I continue my quest in finding a better way to engage adults and truly help them learn.
