I am embarking on a new and exciting course with the School of Instructor Education at Vancouver Community College.
The process of completing the PID program has really opened my eyes to the possibilities for the education of my adult learners. I have already learned so much about creating learner-centred curriculums. I am hoping that this particular course will give me the tools I need to transform my knowledge of what could/should be done into actual self-directed learning activities.
I find myself in a position of knowing what I can do, but not necessarily fully understanding how to do it. Many of the topics in this program, such as: motivation, active learning, flipped classrooms, etc. should guide me in the right direction. I know that I will learn as much from the information, as I will from taking part in a self-directed program. The activities in this course include reflective journals, readings, creation of a video, discussion forums, etc. - many instructional strategies that I can use in my own classroom.
